Corporate wellness needs heroes. Whether it is the manager hitting the weight room on their lunch hour, or the colleague who ran a 5K charity race with their family, we are often inspired not just by words but by actions and deeds. Enter Elaine Dino, Matrix Fitness Canada’s Treo ambassador. She is repeatedly a top TREO leader for Johnson Health Tech North America (JHTNA). Elaine is #1 on the Canadian leaderboard and inspires her colleagues to not only get their workouts in but to make habit tracking with Treo Wellness a part of their daily to-do!

We caught up with Dino, Branch Manager, and Lead Generator, to talk about her Treo Wellness journey, her favorite activities, and how she hopes to continue to have a small impact on the health and wellness space.

How did you start your Treo Wellness journey and where are you now? 

I was nominated to be the Treo Ambassador for JHT Canada in January of last year. I am currently leading JHT and one of the top leaders for JHTNA. This journey with Treo is ongoing. I’m excited to continue expanding my impact in the health and wellness space. As a Treo Ambassador, I hope to reach and inspire more individuals, providing them with the tools and motivation they need to thrive.

What does fitness mean to you?

Fitness represents a holistic approach to health that encompasses physical strength, mental well-being, and emotional resilience.  It’s about feeling good in my body, having the energy to engage in activities I enjoy, and maintaining a positive mindset.

How do you use exercise every day?

Incorporating exercise into my daily routine is essential.  Whether it’s a morning jog or a HIIT session, I use movement to kickstart my day and keep my energy levels up.  

Work can be stressful. How does exercise help you reduce stress at work?

Exercise also plays a crucial role in stress management. When I am active, my body releases endorphins, which help improve my mood and reduce anxiety.  It can serve as a valuable break from work-related pressures, allowing me to reset my mind. This balance helps me focus better and approach challenges with a clearer perspective, ultimately improving my productivity and job satisfaction.

How has Treo Wellness kept you on track with your habits?

Treo Wellness helps me stay on track with my daily fitness goals and habits in several ways.  “Goal Setting” allows me to set personal goals for fitness, nutrition, mental health, and sleep, providing a clear target to work towards.  “Tracking Progress” is a great feature for logging workouts, meals, etc., giving a visual representation of my progress over time.  “The Educational Resources” within your Treo Wellness App gives access to articles, podcasts, and webinars on wellness topics that inspire my daily practices and activities.

All of these features combined have created a supportive framework that helps me maintain consistency and makes wellness a part of my daily life.

What is something we don’t know about the Treo platform that might get us excited to use it?

Treo Wellness offers many resources and means of support to help you achieve your goals. It offers features like professional support such as nutritionists, coaching, or a 20-minute free consultation with a certified coach. Talking about your struggles can help you feel less isolated and more empowered.

Treo Wellness also provides a wide range of On-Demand Workouts and Healthy Eating videos. You can also find Guided Meditations, Breathing exercises, Sleep Stories, as well as Financial Education webinars and podcasts.

What would you say to a colleague who is struggling with eating well, with exercise, or habit change in general. What advice would you offer?

I would approach the conversation with empathy and encouragement.  I would explain that it is important to understand that change takes time. Recognize that it’s completely normal to struggle with making lasting changes to their habits. Habit formation is a process, and there will be ups and downs along the way. It is important to just remind themselves why they started the health and wellness journey to begin with. I would also remind them that they are not alone in this journey and every step taken towards healthier habits is a step in the right direction.  Celebrate your progress and keep pushing forward!
